Beekeepers don't think it's such a sweet surprise. You can blame M&Ms for the unnatural tint.

Near the French town of Ribeauville, in the Alsace region of France, bees have been churning out blue (and green!) honey since August. Flummoxed beekeepers were quick to find the source, a plant that processes the sugary waste from an M&Ms factory.

Only 2.5 miles from the hives, the waste was easier to collect than pollen, leading the bees to prefer it to flowering plants until the factory managers put a stop to it in recent weeks, according to a press release from the company.

For anyone excited to try blue honey, it's not to be. All the tainted product will be disposed of.
